With many of today’s couples posting and sharing everything about planning their wedding, social media use has skyrocketed over the past few years. SAP, a global Information Technology leader, has a social media application that was used to gather the info for this Infographic on the use of social media when planning a wedding.

SAP listened to what brides and grooms were saying and posting online between January 2013 and June 2013. The results were broken down into categories below.

HuffPostWeddings has a great article titled The Truth About Planning a Wedding. The article lists 5 Truths regarding wedding planning and what to expect. For first time brides, this should be a must read.

Philadelphia Weddings, Masters Group DJ, Wedding Table Seating, Wedding Inspiration

The article mentions the great wealth of wedding planning info out there on the internet. The tricky part for couples planning their wedding though, is sifting through all of the websites, blogs, pins, tweets, and #hashtags to find what is appropriate for them and what is appropriate for somebody else. Just because a celebrity had fire dancers performing during cocktail hour doesn’t mean it would be a good idea for your wedding.

Out of the 5 Truths About Planning Your Wedding, the one truth that I think is most important is: Truth #1: You get what you pay for.

Just like in everyday life, this applies to weddings and your wedding budget. You really do get what you pay for. The biggest challenge for all brides is knowing what to trim from the budget and what to gladly pay a little extra for. Of course,  your Wedding DJ Entertainment should be a top priority ;)   but that’s just me…

New York Weddings has an interesting Infographic , detailed on HuffPost Weddings, about what Brides would change or not change about their wedding after the big day.

New York Weddings

New York Weddings Magazine

100 Brides were surveyed and survey questions include:

  • What Do You Regret Splurging On
  • What Did You Do With Your Dress
  • How Long it Took to Pay Off Your Wedding
  • Did You Have a Wedding Registry

It’s easy to look back and second guess every decision that was made, but as long as you were happy with everything, that’s all that should really matter. You could drive yourself crazy if you went back and really reviewed all of the wedding planning that took many months to do.

If you got married recently, what would you go back and change if you could do it over?

HuffingtonPost Weddings has a great article about 12 Wedding “Rules” Every Bride Should Feel Free to Break that aren’t necessarily valid anymore to today’s brides and grooms. While some are very old customs, others are more recent trends.

Here are a few of the rules:

  1. The groom can’t see the bride before the wedding.
  2. Sleeping separately the night before.
  3. Wearing a white dress.

The bottom line is that it is YOUR wedding and you should feel free to make it your own.

If you want to wear a pink bridal gown, do it. Want to get all of your professional photos done before the ceremony, go right ahead.

Do what you want and don’t worry about having to plan by the “rules”.
