Maroon 5′s new video for their song “Sugar” is taking the internet and Bride’s wish lists by storm. The band and “Wedding Crashers” director David Dobkin crashed real weddings and surprise Brides & Grooms by singing the song. Guests are confused at first until they realize that it truly is Adam Levine and Maroon 5 right in front of them.

The reactions are priceless and the video includes audio of their reactions along with the music. This is a must-see video to a perfect pop love song. Just think of it as “Wedding Crashers Pt. 2 starring Maroon 5″.

Bride & Groom First Dance

Trying to narrow down your choices for your First Dance as husband and wife? Then check out this Spotify playlist of the Top 10 First Dance Songs as of September 2013. This list is compiled by DJ Intelligence which tracks music played by Disc-Jockeys across the USA.

It’s always a good idea too know what is popular at the moment. That way you can either go with one of these songs or select something totally different and unique.

My advice to brides and grooms has always been to select a song that has some sort of meaning for them… the night they first met, the first kiss, the moment they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their life with them.

Enjoy and Share!

With many of today’s couples posting and sharing everything about planning their wedding, social media use has skyrocketed over the past few years. SAP, a global Information Technology leader, has a social media application that was used to gather the info for this Infographic on the use of social media when planning a wedding.

SAP listened to what brides and grooms were saying and posting online between January 2013 and June 2013. The results were broken down into categories below.

A trend that has been popular over the last few years is the “Surprise” First Dance. This is when the bride and groom begin by dancing to a slow song and then the music switches to a fast song and they begin a choreographed routine. Some are very intricate in their choreography while others are freestyle with the couple just having fun.

Even though the trend has slowed a little, there are still some great choreographed First Dance performances out there. There is no reason why a couple can’t do whatever they want… something silly, funny, awkward.

What really makes it special is when the song that they dance to has some sort of meaning as well. For instance, Raquel Kelly, E! Fashion Police Producer & Creator of the Wedding Blog “I Guess I Do”, recently wrote an article on HuffPost Weddings about her own “Surprise” First Dance and the meaning behind it. Not only does she do a fantastic job of explaining it’s meaning, she has the awesome routine with her husband on video to go along with it.

So, I think that if a bride and groom want to do a “Surprise” First Dance, then go for it. Don’t worry about if it’s not the hottest trend right now or what others may think. Just go out, have fun, and make a memory that you and your spouse will remember for the rest of your lives!

Have you ever wondered how brides and grooms choose wedding cake toppers? It is a great way  for couples to add a personal touch to their wedding cake.

Some popular choices are based on a favorite activity (video games, movies) or sport (baseball, football), while some are based on the bride or groom’s career (fireman, nurse). It also can be based on the overall wedding theme or can simply be a monogrammed initial of the couple’s last name.

Simply Bridal’s Blog has an infographic on some of the most popular Wedding Cake Toppers. Click image to view full size.

HuffPostWeddings has a great article titled The Truth About Planning a Wedding. The article lists 5 Truths regarding wedding planning and what to expect. For first time brides, this should be a must read.

Philadelphia Weddings, Masters Group DJ, Wedding Table Seating, Wedding Inspiration

The article mentions the great wealth of wedding planning info out there on the internet. The tricky part for couples planning their wedding though, is sifting through all of the websites, blogs, pins, tweets, and #hashtags to find what is appropriate for them and what is appropriate for somebody else. Just because a celebrity had fire dancers performing during cocktail hour doesn’t mean it would be a good idea for your wedding.

Out of the 5 Truths About Planning Your Wedding, the one truth that I think is most important is: Truth #1: You get what you pay for.

Just like in everyday life, this applies to weddings and your wedding budget. You really do get what you pay for. The biggest challenge for all brides is knowing what to trim from the budget and what to gladly pay a little extra for. Of course,  your Wedding DJ Entertainment should be a top priority ;)   but that’s just me…

One of the best parts of my job as a wedding DJ is that I get to meet all kinds of great people, from all walks of life, at different stages in their journey to getting married. I met with Michelle & Bobby in the summer of 2012 to discuss their vision for their wedding and how The Masters Group works to make it fun, easy to plan, and memorable. I knew when I met the young couple that this would be a fantastic event and I was right!

The color theme was black and white with pink accents to match the bridesmaids. It looked classy and elegant.

The Wedding Ceremony and Reception was held at The Brandywine Manor House Inn in Honeybrook, PA. A beautiful open setting with multiple outdoor and indoor ceremony sites, the spacious main ballroom, and the new Manor House Barn circa 1794. The Masters Group provided music for the ceremony which was held at The Lakeview site. Once the ceremony was over everyone headed indoors to the main ballroom to enjoy butlered hors d’oeuvres and cocktails from the event’s caterer, Sage Catering. I have been lucky enough to work with the team at Sage at many events and I can truly say, they are the best of the best!

After cocktail hour, the large bridal party was introduced and the bride & groom made their entrance. They danced to Bryan Adams – All For Love for their first dance. The toasts followed by the Maid of Honor (sister of the bride who is a wedding planner and helped plan the event) and Best Man (brother of the groom). Both were entertaining, touching, and from the heart. After dinner the dancing begun as I played a mix of great music selected by the bride & groom along with some dance floor faves that I felt would work after reading the crowd. The group was energetic, fun, and everyone had a great time on the dance floor!

The pink uplighting really added a magical touch to the dance floor as the bride & groom and guests danced the night away.

I want to thank Michelle & Bobby for letting me be a part of their wedding. It was an honor and a lot of fun working with them. Also, thanks to Nancy, Gordon, and Dan at BMHI for a wonderful evening. And last, but not least, to Sage Catering for another fantastic event. We love working with Dana, Ed, Greg, Liz and the team at Sage!
